Trend Spotting: My Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Picks

Fashion week is the biannual highlight of any fashion obsessed guru’s year. The excitement of seeing what has inspired those who essentially influence what we will purchase and wear for the next few months gets myself itching to shop. Although the fashion week occurring in New York City now is highlighting the Spring/Summer collections of 2013, keeping up to speed on what will be in and what will be out is important if you want to be on trend or fashionably early with it. We are only half way through the week long chaos, but I have picked out four of my favorite Mercedes Benz Fashion Week picks thus far.

Show Some Skin: Charlotte Ronson

Peek –a-boo cutouts and crop tops were out in force on the runways at fashion week. Charlotte Ronson’s collection featured sexy-chic pieces that incorporated tasteful cut outs, bralettes and bare all midriffs.

Harness Your Heart: BCBG

BCBG kept a cohesiveness throughout their Spring/Summer ’13 line by adding a leather body cage accessory to each look that set foot on the runway. This is definitely the coming seasons adaption to the body chain addiction that took over last seasons runways.

Color Blocking: Mara Hoffman

Color blocking is proving itself season after season as a soon to be classic. Mara Hoffman featured some interesting variations to color-blocking choices by sticking to a similar color-palette with her pink and red ensembles but also showcasing other unique color combinations.

Revival of Punk: Nicole Miller

Sometimes the best accessory to any outfit is attitude. Take a cue from Nicole Miller’s approach for next season and try mixing and matching prints, patterns, and men’s wear into your wardrobe for a flashback to nineties punk style. Balance a tough, masculine piece with an ultra feminine one. Always remember: black will never go out of style.
