Every year when October comes around, I begin to start thinking about Halloween costumes. It seems like I come up with ideas and wait until the last minute to pull it together and it doesn’t turn out exactly as planned. This year, let’s plan our costumes early and have fun with it! Here are some Halloween costume ideas for the upcoming 2022 spooky season.
Solo Costume Ideas
- Strawberry Shortcake – Can be a main character moment or you could make it a group costume with the other Strawberry Shortcake characters.
- Violet Beauregarde – From Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a blue velvet tracksuit, a blue nose, a short blonde bob with bangs, and most importantly; bubblegum.
- Ballerina – A simple yet classy and elegant costume.
- Where’s Waldo – A striped tee shirt, some glasses, and a red beanie – a cute and comfortable costume.
- Alice in Wonderland – Through the Looking Glass.
- Elle Woods – Bend and snap! Who doesn’t love Legally Blonde?
- Sharpay Evans – I’m envisioning a Fabulous moment from High School Musical 2.
- Avril Lavigne – Skater Boy.
- Kim Possible – Green cargo pants, a black crop top, and of course the red blown out hair.
- Miss Congeniality – Sandra Bullock-esque, a pageant-like dress, Miss Congeniality sash, but make it an undercover cop.
Group Costume Ideas
- Wizard of Oz – There’s no place like home… This group can be anywhere from 2 people to 8 people: Dorothy, Toto, The Tinman, The Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, The Wizard of Oz, Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda the Good Witch.
- Disney Princesses – Another option of having a small group or a big group, pick from any of the Disney Princesses.
- Hocus Pocus Witches – The Sanderson sisters, the perfect costume for All Hallow’s Eve.
- Kardashians – Like, early 2000s era Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe – just a little bit messy.
- Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders – Sexy and easy costume for the hot girls.
- The Chipettes – As in, the girl version of Alvin and the Chipmunks.
- Bratz Dolls – The girls with the passion for fashion, could also be a solo costume.
- Sex and the City – Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda (And Stanford?) because maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with.
- The Seasons – Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall
- The Golden Girls – A funny costume idea, and who wouldn’t want to honor Betty White?
2 Person Ideas
- Race Car Drivers – A simple and sexy costume idea for a friend duo.
- Black Swan and White Swan – A black tutu and a white tutu paired with a mask – chef’s kiss.
- Tinker Bell and Silvermist – Blonde and black haired fairies who offset each other perfectly.
- Dumb and Dumber – But who’s dumb and who’s dumber?
- Harry Potter and Ron Weasley – Name a better best friend duo… Get a black robe (a hand-me-down robe if you’re Ron), Gryffindor accessories, and you’re all set. If you want a third person, add a Hermione too.
- Phineas and Ferb – There’s 104 days of summer vacation and school comes along just to end it… And there’s only one Halloweekend so find the best way to spend it.
- The Shining Twins – Creepy yet cute Halloween costume.
- Maverick and Goose – Could be for the guys or for the girls.
- Twitches – Iconic witch sisters, perfect for Halloween.
- Jackie and Donna – Redhead and brunette best friend duo from That 70s Show.
Couple Costume Ideas
- Minnie and Mickey Mouse – Get some mouse ears and red accessories and you have yourself a wholesome couples costume.
- Mr. and Mrs. Smith – Just don’t try to kill each other, okay?
- Golfer and Golfer’s Caddy – For anyone who loves driving the golf cart more than they love the actual golfing.
- Pam and Tommy – I added this mostly because I want someone to do Pam. The better, more successful couple involving a Pam would be Pam and Jim from The Office.
- Elvis and Priscilla Presley – In honor of the Elvis movie coming out, I think this would be a fun costume to pull together.
- Sailor and Mermaid – The rulers of the sea.
- Rue and Jules – Although problematic, this would be a fun costume to dress up as.
- Cosmo and Wanda – The original green and pink pair.
- Corpse Bride and Husband – If you’re looking for a spooky couple’s costume, this is the one.
- Brittany and Santana – Best friends turned couple, all you need is a cheerleader costume!
