On the hunt for your signature scent? Look no further.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

Finding  your signature scent can be a long and exhausting process. There can be so many perfumes that smell great, but just aren’t your scent soulmate. Perfumes are also expensive, so exploring perfumes is even more difficult. I am still on the hunt for my signature scent, so I’m trying out five popular perfumes and reviewing them for anyone who’s also looking to find their everyday perfume. The tricky thing about perfume is that they all smell differently on each individual person, but I’ll try to help you find the ones that are worth testing out. To keep in mind – my favorite types of scents are dark and woody notes (vanilla, caramel, amber, tobacco, etc.)

Bubble Bath – Mason Margiela Replica

6.5/10

$144 – 3.4 oz.

To me this perfume doesn’t live up to its hype. Like I said, I like a darker scent but I enjoy switching it up every once in a while to go for a light and airy scent. I think I would have enjoyed it if I liked floral scents more. There are a lot that I do really like, but this one wasn’t totally it for me. It’s also quite expensive, so definitely take that into account.

If you are looking for a Replica perfume, they have all of them in a box for $35 in Sephora, which is what I got. In that set, I personally really liked Sailing Day, which has a light scent and reminds me of being on the ocean; hence the same. I also loved Jazz Club, so I would definitely splurge and buy the full size version of that. Jazz Club is an honorable mention in that set, as it is a very warm and woody scent. All of these scents last a long time as well, which is a plus.

Brazilian Crush – Sol de Janeiro

9.5/10

$20 – 3.04 oz.

This is the scent I wear almost everyday and I absolutely love it. I bought it because of the hype and it lives up to it in my opinion (it’s also only $20!!!). The only reason for not ranking this  a 10/10 is because it doesn’t last long. The one I bought is technically a body spray, but I think I need to invest in the actual perfume version. I would definitely recommend this scent to anyone who wants to smell like vanilla and salted caramel.

Light Blue – Dolce & Gabbana

8/10

$110 – 3.3 oz.

This perfume reminds me of a loved one, so I may be a bit biased. That being said, I used to wear this perfume a lot and always got a lot of compliments. This perfume is very strong and you’ll either love it or hate it. It smells very clean and lasts a long time. A perfect springtime perfume with both floral and fruity undertones.

Midnight – Christian Siriano

9.5/10

$78 – 3.4 oz.

I tried out this perfume from a friend and could not stop smelling it on myself. I’m usually really picky when it comes to strong smells, but this perfume smells incredible. It lasts pretty long but not as long as others and I felt great wearing it. It’s a dark and sophisticated perfume, with sweet hints. Would definitely recommend it!

Good Girl – Carolina Herrera

8/10

$124 – 2.7 oz.

I wore this perfume for a long time and always got a lot of compliments wearing it. It’s a very feminine and sexy perfume with notes of cocoa, coffee bean, and jasmine. It’s in the floral fragrance family so it smells very feminine while still being a dark perfume. Since I wore this perfume a lot, I think I got a little tired of it so it’s no longer a favorite of mine but I would still highly recommend!
