Mazel of the Week: Natalie Portman
Urban Dictionary describes “girl crush: as “feelings of admiration and adoration which a girl has for another girl. A nonsexual attraction, usually based on veneration at some level.” Well well well, then I guess you could say I have a girl crush on Natalie Portman. I am crushing on Natalie for so many reasons. She’s smart: She graduated from Harvard with a BA in psychology in 2003. She’s talented: Portman has starred in many movies, most recently Black Swan, which she won a Best Actress Oscar and Golden Globe for. She’s funny: Portman nailed her role in the comedy “No Strings Attached,” and proved how hilarious she is. How funny was it when she thanked “Mila ‘sweet lips’ Kunis” in her acceptance speech at the Oscars? Natalie is also a fashion icon, being the face of Dior, and wearing Rodarte all season, who designed the costumes for Black Swan. Most recently, Natalie has made headlines for her comments regarding former Dior Creative Director John Galliano, who made public anti-Semitic remarks. Natalie said that as a proud Jewish person, she found Galliano’s remarks “disgusting,” and refused to be associated with him in any way. In a world where fashion designers are idolized, and other designers were defending Galliano, it was important for Natalie to stand up for herself, and defend her religion. Natalie Portman is an all around class act. She most likely tops every guy’s “dream girl” list, and is a celebrity who genuinely is a role model for others. So Natalie, mazel to you.
