Karlee Price ’17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

Karlee Price is a junior at the University of Maine. Originally from Winslow, Maine, she chose UMaine because it is far enough from home that she can be independent, but close enough to visit home when needed.

Karlee studies communication sciences and disorders, and Psychology. She dreams of becoming a speech pathologist in a hospital where she can work with stroke patients who have Aphasia.

She would describe herself as “compassionate, ambitious and optimistic” and is proud of her involvement on campus. Her favorite thing about UMaine is the Greek life, as she is a sister of Alpha Phi. She is also the Panhellenic President, a dance team captain, a member of the Dance Marathon Committee, a member of the Order of Omega and a campus employee.

Between her numerous commitments and busy schedule, she still finds time to spend time with her sisters and friends, dance at football games and spend (too much) money. Her favorite place to meet new people is fraternity bathrooms.

So I know what you’re all thinking- how on earth does Karlee balance all of these activities on top of her academic schedule!? To-do lists and her cute planner help her keep track of all of her obligations. Although all-nighters are pretty frequent for her, she gets through the day with Aroma Joe’s, her roommate’s puppy and venting sessions with her mom. She makes sure to stay present in whatever it is she is doing, rather than letting her mind wander to the tasks she must accomplish later on.

Her overall advice for handling college life? “You can sleep when you’re dead. Get as involved as you can, and don’t let yourself get lazy.”
