If you have ever been to a hockey game, you must have notices the band of 5 guys spelling out “MAINE” out on their stomachs. You may have noticed them in the student section cheering on the Black Bears, casually waking around the Alfond Arena between periods, but most likely for their Alfond run after ever Maine goal. Our campus celebrity this week is none other than The Naked 5.

The tradition started back in the early 90s when a few die-hard Maine hockey fan started painting their stomachs for home games. The practice quickly caught on, and now The Naked 5 travel to many of the team’s away games, but they never miss a game at the Alfond Arena.

I got to hangout with them, and experience a day in the life of The Naked 5 on game day! Check out the video to see the boys getting ready, as Maine took on Providence College on February 1.

Also, you can keep an eye on The Naked 5 by following them on Twitter: @TheNaked5
