Physically we have all returned from spring break. However, mentally returning from the sun, sand and relaxation we’ve been indulging in for the past two weeks can be much harder to do. With roughly seven weeks of the school year left its time to get down to business and finish the year off strong. Doing these several things can aid in the process of getting yourself back into school mode and make sure you don’t fall behind.
Look over your syllabi…to make sure you don’t forget when assignments are due. There is no worse feeling than getting to class and realizing you completely forgot about an assignment that’s due that day. Two weeks off of school can throw your mind set off and even the most organized person can forget things. Reminding yourself of what you’re doing in each class and what work is due soon will refresh your memory and make you better prepared for your classes.
Making a to-do list…will help you organize your thoughts and stay on track when things get hectic. Its important to know the things you need to get done whether it homework due this week, when to sign up for classes or due dates for final projects. You’ve already looked over your syllabi so you know what assignments are due when and making a list can help you manage the last seven weeks so you don’t en dup overwhelmed the last week of school. Depending on how hectic these last weeks will be for you it can be helpful to make a couple different lists. You could make a short-term list and a long-term list or an academic one and a personal one. Being organized and having it written down will help you remember what to get done no matter how long the list is.
Don’t over due it…The first week back can be used to get back into the groove of things or as an extension to spring break. Making sure to take time for homework instead of lounging with friends or going out when you have 8 a.m. class will give you the easiest transition back into the student-mindset.
Looking of syllabi and making a to-do list takes such a short amount of time that there is no real excuse not to do them. Getting yourself organized is something that will come in handy throughout your life. Following these three pieces of advice will ease you back into life at the University of Maine and ensure that the last seven weeks of school are as stress-free as possible.
