Avant-Garde with Rachel: Christmas Parties

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

Christmas is coming! My favorite time of year. Family, friends, classmates, and coworkers all together and everyone has a good time.

Christmas parties are the best place to make a statement with your wardrobe.

Here are the top five items to have in your wardrobe for every Christmas party you attend.

1. Sparkle: Make a serious statement with a nice glittery skirt, or glittery heels…you will look just like a Christmas ornament. When the light hits your skirt or shoes, you will literally sparkle.

2. Green/Red/Gold/Silver: Christmas colors…everyone needs to wear some kind of Christmas color to a Christmas party. I suggest a nice vibrant red dress, gold or silver jewelry, and a nice high stiletto. (Whatever you feel comfortable with).

3. High Heels: A lot of the Christmas parties I go to, I am usually sitting with family or friends so it is a good way to wear some nice heels. Make sure that you are comfortable walking in the snow in your heels, and make sure that they are the appropriate height for your comfort zone.

4. Lace: White lace is SO chic in the winter time and will match with any of the Christmas colors that you pair with it, whether it be a red skirt, green pants, a gold skirt, or silver glittery leggings. The intricateness of lace makes it very fashion forward.

5. Blazer: A nice blazer will class up every party outfit imaginable. I suggest buying one with short sleeves…houses get very hot when there are a lot of people all piled into one room or apartment. Make sure that the blazer is nice and structured and is a statement color that will match your outfit.

Parties are such a good way to get the scoop on all of the stuff going on in your friends and families lives…they’re also a good way to show people how put together you are now that you are a college student.
