9 Things to do in Orono Over October Break

Stuck on campus over fall break? Not sure what to do? Here are nine alternatives to catching up on Netflix.
 
1. Watch sports games! 
 
  • October 9th: Field Hockey vs. Albany, UMaine field hockey complex, 2-5 pm.
  • October 10th: Women’s Ice Hockey vs. Quinnipiac, Alfond, 4-6 pm.
  • October 11th: Women’s Soccer vs. UMBC, Alumni field, 12-2 pm.
 
2.  Exercise!
The New Balance Rec Center will be open during fall break, so try out some new group exercise classes!  The full group exercise class schedule can be found online.
 
3. See a show at the Emera Astronomy Center Planetarium
 
Origins of Life, October 9th, 7 pm, $6
 
4.  Volunteer with the Bodwell Center!
  • October 10th: Orono Land Trust fall trails cleanup. 8:30 am – 12 pm.
  • October 11th: UPark. Play with children while their parents learn English at the English conversation group. 2-4 pm.
5. Outdoor Adventures 
  • Go rock climbing in Rumney, NH from October 10-12 with Maine Bound Adventure Center.
6. Fall Harvest Festival 
  • Saturday, October 10, 2015 10 am
  • Curran Homestead, 372 Fields Pond Road, Orrington, Maine
  • Admission is $9.

7. Check out the Bar Harbor Film Festival

  • Friday, October 9, 2015 6 pm  to 9:30 pm
  • Saturday, October 10, 2015 10 am. to 10 pm
  • Sunday, October 11, 2015 10 am to 7:30 pm

8. Go out to eat in downtown Orono!
