5 Thoughts You Have When Trying to Park at UMaine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

UMaine Parking.

I’m about to ramble on for a few minutes, but those two words alone are explanation of anything I could say. Yes, we all know the reasons that it can’t be improved: something about us being on swampland, some other vague excuse about no room- OK, sure. But that doesn’t stop us from complaining because it is just that bad. To make matters worse, the snow limits what little space we do have. As I drove to campus today at the worst possible time, around 11 a.m. between classes, a few thoughts crossed my mind that I think a few of you have shared before:

1) Alright, am I choosing CCA lot or Belgrade lot today… Right or left, right or left… OK, fine- left. Now, what row would possibly have a spot that isn’t 500 miles away??

2) Why is this car driving directly at me? Are you kidding stop looking for the spot that doesn’t exist and get out of my lane?

3) HOW could you possibly park directly on a line? That could have been my spot. You ruined part of my day with your inability to park.

4) Are you parking or are you leaving? Can I have your spot if you’re leaving? Why are you sitting in your car for so long?!

5) Should I stalk this person walking to their car!? Am I at that point yet?

Yes, this is a whole lot of complaining, but hey, I know we are all thinking it. Just know that while you might be getting what you think is irrationally angry and aggressive over the “parking” our school provides- know you are not alone.
