Spring Break is Almost Over: Back to Reality

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Welp, guys, spring break is about over. The week we have been looking forward to, working out extra hard for, and saving up all our money for is about over.  No more waking up to beautiful views, booze or maybe just your dog at home. Whatever you chose to spend your spring break doing, no one ever wants it to end, but it’s about to. There are a few thoughts that come to mind when we finally have to come back to reality.

Don’t look at my bank account, don’t look at my bank account, don’t look at my bank account..

We all saved our money for this one week, now even the thought of looking at our bank account makes us cringe. Maybe spent a little too much extra money on that drink at the pool bar or that extra two dollars for the souvenir cup. Ooops, we all have a little too much fun on vacay.. back to ramen and water for awhile once we’re back.

What do you mean by ‘test’?

Before break it was all fun and games when the professor said that the midterm wouldn’t be until after break. No stress before break! But wait, now not only do we have stress, but that week of not even thinking about the material may have caught up with us. Time to study up.

So wait I have responsibilities again?

After a week of carefree living and rarely any responsibilities, it’s extremely hard for us to come back to reality. We often are slammed with papers, quizzes and projects as soon as we get back. It’s overwhelming.

Where’d my spring break bod go?

The vacation mindset along with the late night slices of pizza may have caught up with us as the break went on. We were all on board for the pre-spring break workout plan, but looks like it might be time for the post spring break detox to prepare for the summer.

When does summer start again?

8 weeks. 8 weeks. 8 weeks. We can do it!

Although coming back to reality after break can be a bit traumatizing, I hope vacation (or staycation) was well worth the post break stress! We’re on the homestretch, take on these last eight weeks like a boss, ladies!
