Pinterest Crafts to Do Over Break That Actually Work

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

If you’re not going anywhere over spring break, aka having a staycation, chances are you have a lot of time on your hands this week. Which means, plenty of time for crafting! Usually Pinterest is the first place we turn for these crafting opportunities, but sometimes their ideas are less than reasonable, like carving your next umbrella holder out of the tree stump in your back yard. So I thought I’d come up with a list of crafts that are more manageable and could fit well into your spring break schedule.

1. Custom Mason Jars

This craft only takes some mason jars, burlap and paint to create cute little storage containers with whatever personalized look you want! By printing out a free stencil, this craft is easy and looks store bought.

2. Personalized Sharpie Mugs

These mugs are incredibly easy to make and are something you’ll use over and over again. If you buy Sharpie Paint Markers and bake the mug after, it’s dishwasher safe!

3. Love Canvas

You can use this to paint any word, not just love, and it is so easy. Not all of us are artistically inclined, but no one has to know with this craft! Simply use tape to mark off your word, paint over it and remove the tape!

4. Net Wrapped Mason Jars

These Mason Jars are an easy way to get a beachy look even if you didn’t go to the beach over break. They’re super cute as storage or as decoration, or you could make a candle out of them!

5. Homemade Hand Scrub

By following this recipe, you can have the softest hands around by the time you get back from break!

6. Mini Coasters

All this craft requires is washi tape and popsicle sticks! Easy, peasy and super cute and practical!

7. Paper Wallflowers

These are not only easy, but they only require paper and tape and are very cute and colorful. You can match them to any color scheme, and they look great on every wall!

8. Weekly Menu or Planner

Even if you don’t need a weekly menu, this cute design works well for weekly schedules and to do lists as well!

Hopefully these crafts will keep you busy while your friends are on their tropical family vacations, and maybe when they get back they’ll even be a little bit jealous of all the cute things you crafted up when they were away!
