New Year’s Eve. Ahhh, the night of all nights. Sparkly dresses, watching the ball drop, kisses from the cutie pie guy, and a night full of class and fun, right? False. This night is full of false expectations and pressures, specifically for single girls. Well here’s a news flash, ladies, whether your New Year’s Eve goes as planned will not define how the rest of the year goes, I promise. That being said, there are some major pressures that come with being a single girl on New Year’s, so lets go over some of them.
Being the only single girl in your group of friends…
So you’re trying to plan out the big night. You call Betty, she’s going on a date with her bae. Call Madi, she has a planned night of cuddles with her boo. And Stacey? Oh yeah, she’s in Colorado with her main man’s fam, probably kissing under the moonlight of the Rocky Mountains. Well, crap, what do you do now?
Mom and Dad think, “Since you don’t have a SO” that you’ll spend the night with them.
Um, Ma, how am I supposed to meet Zac Efron at a karaoke night with my parents around?
The struggle of finding something great to wear…
It’s NYE, you have to go all out. Sparkly dresses, red lipstick, high heels. This is a pressure you feel especially when single and going out and need to impress people, right?
And last, but not least. The biggest pressure of them all: Finding that ever-so-famous New Year’s kiss…
Maybe that cutie over there will work?
NYE is supposed to be a night of fun and bringing in the New Year, right? Don’t let these pressures ruin the time. Let the night carry it’s own fate, and you go do you, boo. Remember, sometimes a nice kiss to the wine glass in your PJs isn’t so bad after all.
