It’s about that time; the weather’s changing faster than you can say “Cardigan.” And lurking in the cool corner of minds, breathing chills down spines across the Midwest:

It’s the Transition to Pants!!!

But some of us, shaking with fear, would rather wait until the very last leaf turns than risk losing skirts and shorts too soon, deep in the dark depths of the closet, afraid of the 7 month restriction to pants.

What does this mean for the fate of our beloved above-the-knee items?

Turn to Tights

Tights occasionally get knocked as a tiring trend. Let them think what they want — we know tights are the savior of the fall.

1.)Tights allow you to wear a shorter short yet still feel covered.

2.)Tights balance a lighter weight skirt or a short if you are wearing a heavier top, sweater, or cardigan.

3.) Tights work like jewelry; they add frill and flair, plus, tights can be dressed up or down

4.) Your legs may be cold, but one thing is hot this fall: BOOTS.Boots are everywhere. And what is more fitting to wear with boots than a pair of tights?

If you are really daring, try the knee-high sock or tight. A statement piece that serves the same purpose as the tight without the … uncomfortable … well, we all know that feeling .

So kick it school-girl as the chillier September weather approaches.

Fashionably Yours.

*DISCLAIMER* Tights MUST be worn with a skirt, dress, or shorts. No exceptions.

Peter Frankman is an underclassman at the University of Iowa from Burbank, California. He has a few addictions in his life: writing, reading, heavy metal, Adult Swim, and any movie with zombies. He joined The University of Iowa's Her Campus team as the writer of the "From a Guy's Perspective" articles in January 2011 and hasn't looked back since (except to make sure he doesn't write the same article twice). Peter's a major in both Journalism and Creative Writing and hopes to become a writer in some way, shape or form after he graduates. That or the President of the United States, he hasn't really focused too much to say anything decisive yet... or maybe he has, we're not quite sure. If he had to choose a night of guilty pleasures it would include the Beastie Boys, Monster Import: Light, Zebra Cakes, and a marathon of subpar movies that he thinks are amazing (Blade, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fast and the Furious, etc).
