CAMPUS CUTIE Vincenzo Bruno Caporale

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Meet this week’s campus cutie(!!!), Vincenzo Bruno Caporale. He’s a junior who hails from the city of Chicago (the actual city, not the suburbs), and he’s the chillest kid I’ve (ever) met (sorry boyfriend).

Age: 20

Major: Political science degree, writing certificate

Involvement on campus: I’m a founding father of a fraternity on campus (Kappa Sigma); I’ve also been a contributing writer for The Odyssey and spent some time as interim editor in chief.

Relationship status: Single

Favorite part about going to Iowa: Burger Bar. Kidding. My favorite thing about this University is this town. I fell in love with Iowa City when I first visited as a high school senior. The architecture, the people, the art, the food, the parties; this town has it all. I come from Chicago, which is my favorite place in the world, and it also has these things, but something about this town captivated me. The environment has an aura and a personality that is second to none. It’s exhilarating to be living in this corner of the world at this point in time, because big things are going to come out of this place.

Any big plans for the first tailgate of the season? Streak across Kinnick…

Also kidding. I’ll be tailgating over on the west side of town near the stadium for every home Saturday football game, and I’m damn excited for it.

Dream gig after graduation: I want to be a lawyer, and then a politician, but more than that I want to change the world. I want to leave this world in a better state than I found it. Also, being an astronaut would be awesome. The moon is my wild rabbit—the one thing I desire over anything else—but also the most elusive. I’m all about the view. It’s how I decide my seat in class. Hell, it’s even how I decided to come to this university. It has some of the best views in the midwest. Have you ever walked down Iowa toward the Old Capitol? It’s incredible. In my opinion, there is nothing more amazing than standing thousands of miles from Earth, on its lone natural satellite, looking back at all I’ve ever known and all we ever will know, small enough that I can cover the entire blue marble with my thumb.

Something people don’t normally know about you: I’m an ordained minister, so I can marry two people. I’m also a published poet. (Ok- I’m done with this interview, mic drop)

Best compliment you have ever received: “You always make me laugh, everything you say is funny.”

(Side note: He does a killer Austin Power’s impersonation)

Picture perfect date- go! Dinner, drinks, and a show. Not a movie, though, but maybe a concert would be a cool place to take a date.

#1 jam right now: “Future People” by Alabama Shakes

Celebrity crush: Scarlett Johansson

Who would star in a movie about your life: Johnny Depp or Bradley Cooper, although I’ve been compared to Travolta on more than one occasion

Pick a celebrity and a date spot in Iowa City: Jennifer Lawrence at Iowa Chop House

Best advice you’ve ever received: “Don’t take life too seriously, because no one here gets out alive.”

Movie(s) you could watch over and over again: Goodfellas, The Blues Brothers, any Quentin Tarantino film, especially Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained

What do you miss most about being home? My mom

Most embarrassing moment: I don’t embarrass myself, others may think so, but if I get a laugh out of anybody for something I did, I did my job. I’d rather make people laugh than cry.

(Ok-perfect?)

Keep doing you, Vinnie!
