With spring just around the corner, love is in the air, especially for this week’s Campus Cutie Couple: Lauren and Sanjay.
When you look at Lauren and Sanjay there is no doubt that these two are an extremely happy couple. You can see the admiration in Sanjay’s eyes as he looks over towards Lauren, and the smile on her face is proof that the feeling is mutual. Being together just seems natural for them as they laugh and talk. They are the definition of a perfect couple. Lauren and Sanjay are both twenty-one and juniors here at Iowa. Sanjay is majoring in math and Lauren is double majoring in English and social work. They are both from the Pleasant Valley/ Bettendorf, IA area.
1. How did you meet?
S: In tenth grade we had a history class together. Lauren was wearing a sweatshirt with her name on the back and the ‘s’ had fallen off. She walked over to me and handed me the ‘s’ and said it was an ‘s’ for Sanjay. After that, we talked on Facebook one night about all sorts of stuff, but I mainly remember the conversation where we wondered how long is the longest someone has slept for.
L: I also had an art class with Sanjay’s sister and she gave me the lowdown on Sanjay.
2. What is your favorite part about each other?
S: I love how opinionated Lauren is. She has strong morals, and I respect that. I trust her; she knows what she’s doing.
L: Physically, I love his eyebrows and beautiful bod. Really, he could be a model. Sanjay is a kind soul who genuinely wants to do good for others… and he probably won’t go bald :)
3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
S: I can’t always tell if she is listening because she likes to change the subject really fast, but then it will turn out that she heard everything I said. Like I’ll be telling her about my class I was just in and she’ll suddenly say she wants pie.
L: Sometimes Sanjay finishes my sentences, but I like to finish my own sentence. He just likes to prove his point. (S: Yeah, and usually when I try to finish her sentences I’m wrong anyways.)
4. What is an ideal day together?
S: Anything with food.
L: We love to eat together.
S: And watch Food Network, especially chopped.
L: And What Not To Wear.
L: The best date we ever had was when we went to Sixflags.
S: Yeah, a road trip would be ideal. Then we can talk and spend time together.
5. Do you have nicknames for each other?
S: I really like her nickname “Lorax”
L: You don’t really call me that, though. We call each other boo a lot.
S: Yeah, boo is what we probably say the most.
6. Any advice you want to share to other couples?
S: Be understanding and don’t hold your partner back.
L: There might be rough patches, but love with your whole heart. Be best friends and lovers. Just always be there for each other at the end of the day.
7. Any other fun facts you’d like to share?
L: I love dancing with Sanjay.
L: Our song is “My Girl”
S: We danced to it in my living room in high school.
L: We were voted Cutest Couple in high school.
L: We are interested in each other’s lives—like I’ll tell him what I’m reading about and he’ll show me a magic math trick.
L: We don’t like small talk, though.
S: Lauren advocates against small talk and sarcasm.
L: I think we’ll always be around, even if we aren’t together. He taught me how to love.
