Brylie Bernhard is a lot of things, but lazy does not seem to be one of them. The 20-year-old junior acts as co-president for the Communication Studies Student Association, is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, works at Active Endeavors, and, oh yeah, is the Panhellenic Council President.
“My biggest accomplishment thus far is serving as the University of Iowa’s Panhellenic President,” says Bernhard. “I have been able to grow and learn from some really amazing people, and I am proud that I have the opportunity to challenge myself to be better every day.”
This communication studies major and business minor is from Des Moines, Iowa and comes from a family of four kids. She credits her family for her hard-working attitude and kind personality.
“My mom is a teacher, so I was fortunate to grow up in a family that emphasized learning, support, and love,” she told me. “One thing I was taught from a young age was to be kind to others. I think my family values are what has been a consistent guidance throughout my life.”
Bernhard enjoys occupying her time, saying that she wants to get the most out of her short time in college. She also says that she enjoys finding a balance between courses required for her major and ones taken strictly for enjoyment. As mentioned before, she’s also heavily involved in student organizations.
“Right now, I am on the lookout for a puppy-enthusiast club, as well as a Netflix watching one. If anyone has more information on either of these, please let me know.”
As for her plans further down the road?
“My biggest dream is to develop a career that allows me to help make a difference in the world. I’m still trying to identify exactly what that would look like.”
We have no doubts that Brylie will accomplish just that.
