Suspense is another aspect that adds to the fear this movie instills in its watcher, along with the added gore of special effects.

The natural death of our protagonist’s mother, along with the fatal accident of her daughter results in menacing cult activity, which also happens to be a long-kept family secret. Will the summoned evil entity take hold of our family? This film is extremely well written and thought out. Every scene has you on the edge of your seat in suspense and you constantly have an unsettling and eerie feeling in the pit of your stomach. One thing that made this film stand out to me more than others was the amount of mental gymnastics I had to do to understand the plot. It really makes you think and hold your attention throughout.

After our main character’s wife is murdered, he returns to their eerie hometown to try to unravel the mysteries surrounding her death. Throughout his hunt, terrifying mysteries are uncovered… will our protagonist make it out alive? Or will he be subject to the same fate as his late wife? This movie is noteworthy for its mind-twisting and extremely dark plot. The plot twists make this movie a definite spooky standout.

This movie consists of a dark past, “innocent” victims, demonic entities, and an unforeseen confession. If you like dark and gory, this one’s for you. I had to include both of the Sinister movies because they are equally scary. They both center around the same plot and “villain” but have different characters and a different storyline. The few things I would like to mention about the Sinister movies though is that in addition to being extremely graphic and gruesome, they have a story that’s never been told before. They also add in aspects of artistry such as the sound effects amplify the plot to make it more frightening.
