With the holiday season upon us, we’re always looking to fulfill our holiday bucket lists with that special someone. Now, let me stop right here. It’s OKAY if you’re a single lady this holiday season; just grab your best friend and pretend they’re that special someone for the day! This season is about spending time with your friends and family, giving back, and let’s be real… pigging out. So here are 10 things you can do this holiday season with that special person in your life to make the most out of 2015!
1. Go Sledding
While sledding seems like a winter activity you only did when you were younger, I promise it’s still the best thing ever. Go out and buy a cheap sled, find the steepest hill you can find, and have a blast with your bae!
2. Look at Christmas Lights
I don’t know about you, but, personally, looking at Christmas lights is something I love to do! It’s an easy, fun and CHEAP date. And we all know us college students like the word “cheap.” Hop in the car with the one you love, turn on your favorite playlist, and just DRIVE. I promise you’ll eventually find that one family that loves to make their whole house look like Santa’s workshop threw up on it for the holiday season.
3. Throw an Ugly Sweater Party
Yes, a holiday season isn’t complete without an ugly sweater party, so have fun with this one. Make sure to bond with your loved one while planning, and invite all your friends over for an awesome night.
4. Volunteer and Give Back
Giving back is what this season is all about, so do it! There are so many awesome ways to give back to the community you live in, so make it extra fun by spending the day with that special someone while giving back.
5. Christmas Shopping
We all have to do it, so why not do it together? You may also get ideas of what to get your boyfriend or girlfriend when shopping with them (BONUS!) because we all know how hard it is to pick out the perfect gift for the ones we love!
6. Coffee Date and Chill?
Find a cute coffee shop around your town (not Starbucks or Caribou!). Support your local businesses; grab your date and favorite coffee and CHILL. This is a great date to get to know someone better and just talk for hours, so take advantage of it!
7. Take it Back to Your Childhood
Everyone wants to be a child again sometimes, so take it back to your childhood and build a fort. Yeah, it sounds pretty weird, but it can be so much fun! Find all the blankets, pillows and other supplies you might need around your house. Then, start building! It’s okay to be a child again, and how fun would it be to do it with your boyfriend or girlfriend?! Once it’s finished, grab a laptop and your favorite Christmas movie and get watching!
8. The Classic
You’ve seen it in every Christmas movie ever, but that’s because it really is an awesome date. If you and your date are more of an active couple, head on over to your local ice rink and try not to make a fool of yourself. Just kidding! But really, ice-skating is super fun, even if you’re not very good at it. This date is a classic, and it’s super fun to pretend you’re in a movie while holding your loved one’s hand around the rink.
9. Have a Photo Shoot
Pictures are the best. They’ll always be there even when the memories fade. So, grab a camera and a photographer and have a photo shoot to save the memories. Winter photo shoots are beautiful, especially in a place like Iowa. Get all dressed up, make yourself feel beautiful, and the pictures will turn out great! If you don’t have anyone to take photos of the two of you, have no fear. You can have a selfie shoot or just have fun taking pictures of one another –you might even get a good Instagram out of it!
10. Home-Baked Goods
EVERYONE loves food, that’s a given. Take your boyfriend/girlfriend to your local grocery store with some Pinterest recipes in mind. Grab all the ingredients you’ll need, and head back home to start baking. Having baked goods around the house during the holiday season is a must. This date is so much fun, and you get to eat it all after, which is even better!
