When Kylie Jenner announced that she was going to be coming out with highlighters I think my heart almost burst. I have been a huge fan of the Kylie Cosmetics products and have also been in love with the highlighter trend as well, so this announcement was a huge deal to me.
The colors looked absolutely amazing, and I just knew I had to get my hands on them. I was at my computer five minutes before the release, just waiting to refresh the page.
When they finally released them, I quickly put two Kylighters, Salted Caramel and French Vanilla, in my shopping cart, and hit order. The shipping was free since it was over $40 and the highlighters came about a week later.
I was super excited when I got the package, but that excitement was very short-lived.
This is how the shade French Vanilla came.
I opened the highlighter, and my mouth dropped. I had never had a bad experience from Kylie Cosmetics, so I just couldn’t understand how a mistake like this could have been made. I immediately emailed their customer service and they were extremely nice. They automatically apologized and had a new Kylighter sent out to me for free.
The highlighter didn’t come until about two weeks later but while I was waiting for it I decided to try out the other highlighter, Salted Caramel. This highlighter came in perfect condition, at least I thought it did, and I really wanted to see if it was as pretty as it was in pictures.
When I opened the product, the whole pan fell out of the package and smashed onto the floor.
Now both of my Kylighters were broken.
Universe: 2 – Me: 0
What gets me so frustrated is the fact that Kylie Jenner makes loads of money, so she has the ability to hire the best of the best to make sure her products are perfect. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love her other products, her liquid lipsticks and eyeshadows are some of my all-time favorites. I just don’t understand how she could let a mistake like this happen.
Honestly for $44, and all of the stuff I went through, it doesn’t seem worth it to buy another highlighter from Kylie Cosmetics. I personally even prefer the E.L.F. highlighter, which was $4 compared to a $22 Kylighter. So watch out collegiates, because sometimes when you’re purchasing a product from a celebrity, you’re paying more for the name than for the product itself.
