What’s Worth Your Money From Sephora For Black Friday And Cyber Monday

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Though the Sephora sale ended not too long ago, we still have Black Friday and Cyber Monday! I spend most of my money on random things from Sephora; it doesn’t matter if it’s makeup, skincare, or haircare, I’ve spent money on it. I thought that I would let you know what’s worth it, and what you should save your money on.

Not Worth It

Rare Beauty – “Soft Pinch Liquid Blush” ($20.00): Hear me out! When I tell you that these blushes are pigmented, I don’t think you understand how pigmented I mean. Because of that, I don’t think they’re super beginner friendly. Even the smallest of dots will make you think you’ve used too much. I found that they would stress me out more than anything else, so I stopped reaching for them. If you want to go for something more subtle but buildable, keep reading for what is, in my opinion, a better liquid blush!

Summer Fridays – “Lip Butter Balm” ($23.00): I know this is also a TikTok favorite. I have it in the shade “vanilla beige,” and don’t get me wrong, it’s stunning. The shade, the gloss, and even the smell are all fantastic. The main reason I am suggesting you pass on this is because of how drying it was to my lips. After the first 30 minutes, I would keep applying chapstick and have to layer it a lot. It made my lips look chapped and dehydrated. Not to mention it’s $23.00, which is pricey for what you’re getting.

Briogeo – “Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask” ($39.00): I am willing to spend money on hair products, so when I read all the positive reviews about this hydrating and nourishing hair mask, I spent money with no hesitation. I wasn’t too fond of it after the first use, but I figured my hair would improve over time. Safe to say it did not. Instead, my hair felt very dry, and I started losing more hair than I usually would. You really don’t need to spend the money on this mask, and maybe find better drugstore alternatives.

Touchland – “Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer” ($10.00): I made this mistake. Don’t spend $10.00 on hand sanitizer just because it’s pretty and has nice packaging. Just don’t do it.

NARS – “Radiant Creamy Concealer” ($31.00): After hearing multiple celebrities absolutely rave about this concealer in their Vogue Beauty Secret Videos, I was influenced, and I bought it. Upon first application, I thought it was great. It provided great coverage and was pretty easy to blend out. However, after wearing it for a few hours, I found that it clung to my dry areas and creased. As someone whose skin is dry, it may be better suited for oily skin.

WOrth It

Saie – “Dew Blush Liquid Cheek Blush” ($25.00): This is my absolute favorite liquid blush. Applying a couple of dots will give you such a pretty color, and it is much more beginner friendly. Besides, unlike Rare Beauty’s blush, this one can be used for a more subtle look but may also be built up. You can actually use the product without being too worried about overusing it!

Charlotte Tilbury – Lip Cheat Lip Liner ($24.00) + Hollywood Contour Wand ($40.00): I’ve been insecure about using a lip liner because I know lips can take a look up or down a notch. However, I find that the Charlotte Tilbury Lip liner in pillow talk is perfect for any look you want. It’s very subtle, and the color is like a “your lips but better” type of color. Then there are the contour wands which I also love. I think because it is a sponge, the dotting technique is quite beginner-friendly, though it can be intimidating. It does a perfect job of sculpting your face. Not to mention that the brown doesn’t come off and adds a pretty bronzed look to your face.

Fable + Mane – “HoliRoots Pre-Wash Hair Treatment Oil” ($36.00): I didn’t know I needed hair oil until I started using it. Now my hair routine doesn’t feel complete without it. It’s helped out with hair thinning, especially in the winter, and really makes your hair more shiny and healthy. To get the best results possible with this particular oil, apply it overnight and shampoo twice to prevent build-up!

Shiseido – Eyelash Curler ($23.00): Before you say anything, I know that spending $23.00 on an eyelash curler is very expensive. Keep in mind that you likely won’t pay full price with the sale from Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Regardless, this is the best eyelash curler I have ever used. Not only does it make your eyelashes look incredibly long, but it is the only curler I’ve ever used that can actually hold the curl as well. I’ve tried different mascaras with this curler, and honestly, because of how good the curler is, I found that it doesn’t really matter which mascara you use. If you’re going to buy anything from this article, please let it be this.

If some of the products on my “Not Worth It” List work for you don’t be discouraged! The fun part about makeup is that different products and techniques will work for different people. Anyway I hope you give some of these products a try!
