Happy last week of the semester everyone! I hope all of you are somewhat keeping it together despite all the stresses of final projects, exams, essays…all the things that make college kids question if they really need that degree. ‘Tis the season, am I right? I’m sure none of you have come here to be reminded of your due dates though, so let’s just pretend break is already here for the next few minutes, snuggle up with our favorite fuzzy blankets, and get on with the article!

Last semester, my roommate and I had the lovely idea of deciding what kind of bagel people were based on their major. This was honestly one of my favorite articles to write, so I decided to give it another go with a *festive* twist. I tried to be a bit more specific with the majors this time, but if you don’t see your own please stay tuned! I plan on making a tradition out of this article style, so hopefully at the end of a future semester, you’ll be featured!

Without further ado….here’s what kind of holiday movie you are based on your major :)

Engineering: Home ALone

Clever. Highly imaginative. Maybe a *little* arrogant. Kevin’s creativity in the movie was honestly so impressive, though, so I’ll let the arrogance slide. He may seem to like his alone time at first, but after working so hard on his inventions, a little quality time from his friends and family is definitely deserved!

PSychology: A christmas Carol

This movie is the perfect therapy for whenever you’re feeling a bit like a Scrooge. It’s difficult not to grow a bit bitter with a past that’s anything but merry. However, if you want a healthy future, you have to remember to move on and focus on enjoying the present. It might be a little scary at first, but listening to what this movie has to say can truly help you in life!

Animal Science: Santa Paws

Fuzzy, adorable animals that can talk…what more can you ask for in a movie! Although it’s not always the first choice, there’s a lot to love in this classic (especially the four-legged characters). This movie is adventurous and fun, and honestly deserves a lot more attention than it gets.

Elementary Education: Elf

Buddy the Elf is the perfect depiction of a little kid trapped in an adult’s body. He’s got a super bubbly personality and always knows how to get people to have fun. It’s no argument that he’s the life of the party. No wonder he’s a favorite!

Environmental Studies: A Charlie Brown Christmas

Seeing the value of all Christmas trees, even the ones that look *less* than jolly, is something I’ve always loved about Peanuts. This movie is super comforting and always reminds me to appreciate nature and its gifts. We could definitely use a lot more movies like this in the world!

Business: The Santa Claus

Scott Calvin is the epitome of a businessman. Being thrown into an entirely new career and learning how to adapt yourself and the environment to make it work successfully takes a lot of skill. Plus, I’m pretty sure we’d all love to have Santa Claus as a CEO.

Biology: A Nightmare Before Christmas

Some people think it’s scary and not even a Christmas movie, some people love it and can’t get enough. I think we can all agree it’s a little weird, but if you’re a fan of the style and okay with the creepy bits, go for it!

Journalism: Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Changing the world’s perception of a reindeer’s red nose from something that is weird and a source of bullying to something that is unique and should be celebrated is honestly a really cool skill. This movie knows exactly how to make even the oddest of misfit toys feel special. It definitely deserves a lot more appreciation than it gets.

English: White Christmas

Those who watch this movie love the classics. It’s sophisticated on the outside, but fun and creative with its songs and dance scenes on the inside. This is a big comfort movie to me, and gives me the same feeling as snuggling up with a good book.

Political Science: How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Ahhh the grinch. At first, he may seem pretty cold-hearted and cynical, but he honestly does a great job keeping a watchful eye on the town of Whoville (even if he is only planning on stealing all their Christmas gifts). Deep down, his heart is much bigger than it seems, and he truly cares a lot more about the Whos than he lets on. The world really wouldn’t be the same without him.

And there we have it! I hope you all have a wonderful winter break and get the chance to watch some of your favorite seasonal classics. Happy holidays! <3
