‘This Is Us’ Has Been Renewed and You Should be Hyped

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

It would be extremely surprising if you haven’t heard, seen, or read about NBC’s newest television series, This Is Us, which started last September. In its 4 short months on the air, the show has quickly won the hearts of many and brought more laughs, tears, and entertainment than ever expected. Due to its immediate success, the network has officially renewed it for two more seasons. If you’re already a fan of the show, you’re not surprised at all and are READY for more of the drama that we just can’t get enough of. However, if you’re not yet addicted and thinking about embarking on this incredible journey, here are some reasons why it shouldn’t even be a question, and you should drop everything and watch the first episode right now.

1. Each episode is jam-packed with multiple plots

The show follows a family of triplets through their childhood and also as adults in the present. This means that every episode has very detailed stories with flashbacks to the past and how these memories influence the present, creating deeply rooted, juicy drama.

2. The characters are so relatable

Shows with perfect characters and fairytale endings are so overrated. This Is Us captures reality so well, touching upon struggles that many people face every day, including (but not limited to) weight-loss, identity crises, and never-ending family tension.

3. The men

  Just beautiful. Every. Single. One.

4. Feeling emotional is inevitable

This is Us is truly the perfect combination of comedy and drama. One moment you can be laughing so hard, then boom they hit you with something that instantly brings tears to your eyes. How can a television series manipulate our emotions so well?

5. Relationship goals left and right

Another conflict of emotions. It will simultaneously fill your heart with so much happiness and envy, all while making you question any type of relationship you’ve ever had.

6. Even though you learn so much, you’re still left with SO many questions

Although the constant flashbacks throughout each episode give insight into the characters’ pasts, it still leaves holes in the plot that you desperately want to know the answer to. Each week will leave you demanding more, hoping that the next episode will offer some form of closure.
