The UConn Arab Student Association Presents “Arabian Nights”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

The Arab Student Association at UConn hosted the free event “Arabian Nights” last night from 6 pm to 11 pm.  Throughout the night, students enjoyed dabke, tanoura, and belly dancing, authentic Arabian food and (if you’re 18 or older) hookah to celebrate traditional Arab culture. Everyone was encouraged to participate in the singing, dancing, and celebration to appreciate diversity at UConn and learn something new about Arab culture.

Many students, faculty, and families were already gathered as the sunlight dimmed around 6:30.

Hookah!

As the night went on, students danced to traditional Arab music as well as favorites like “The Electric Slide” and “Hotline Bling”.  One skilled individual made a sick beat on a drum (above).

ASA put together a great time for everyone and UConn was able to come together to appreciate the diverse student body.
