TV Mothers We Wish Were Real

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Lorelai Gilmore (obviously)

She’s witty, charming, hard working and constantly supportive of her daughter. Lorelai’s relationship with Rory is something any mother daughter duo should envy.

Molly Weasley

Never was there a dull moment at the Weasly house, and Mrs. Weasly had enough love for all seven of her kids…and their friends, too. The way she fought and protected her family made her a total badass.

Sofia from The Golden Girls

If there’s one thing Sofia taught us, it’s that you are never too old to do anything, and no matter how old Dorothy got Sofia was always there to lend a hand.

Cookie Lyon

There’s no way anyone will ever mess with Cookie’s family without her doing anything about it, but she doesn’t stop there. Sometimes she has to dish out some tough love to her own sons, too. Don’t mess with Cookie and don’t mess with mama.

Aunt Becky

Let’s be real, anyone who gets to marry Uncle Jesse is a hero in our eyes. Not only was she a great mom to the twins, but she was a fabulously sweet and kind mother figure for DJ, Steph and Michelle.

Claire Huxtable

Perhaps one of the most elegant, poised and strong black women to be on TV. She was smart, funny and a fabulous mother to all 5 of her children, including four daughters, who she made sure would grow up to know exactly what it meant to be a strong woman. Definitely #momgoals.

Suga Mama from The Proud Family

Really no explanation necessary, she was simply one of the greatest and most fun loving cartoon moms/grandmas we had growing up.

Claire Dunphy

Claire taught us that being a mom doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to have everything together 100% of the time and we love her for being unapologetically herself.

Queen Elinor from Brave

She practically ruled the kingdom through her husband and used her strong character and grace to her advantage as Queen. Although she struggles to see eye to eye with her daughter, ultimately it is because she wants the best for her and the rest of her family.

Alba, Xiomara & Jane

Through all of their ups and downs, all three of these women have stuck together through thick and thin. Each generation showed us their fabulous mama skills, from Abuela Alba all the way to Jane herself.
