A Student Studying for Finals Season as Told By Rachel Green

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Rachel Green has always brought joy to audiences watching her on Friends, and while she may be too old to understand the struggles of undergoing finals season, she definitely represents our inner monologues a little too well.

The morning starts with that warm sunshine flooding through your curtains. If you are determined enough, you can climb out of bed to get an early start on cramming. If you’re like me, you usually wind up falling back asleep for another hour or so.

If you can motivate yourself to do so, you head on over to the dining hall for a quick breakfast. After all, those books aren’t going to read themselves. If you’re like me, a bowl of cereal is all you’ll have to get through the day.

You find your usual study spot, and if you’re lucky, it’s free for you to use. You open your textbook, but the words staring back at you look like they’re written in a foreign language, and you want to cry.

You will do anything to avoid studying, so you procrastinate in the most absurd way possible. I downloaded the new Harry Potter game on my phone, for instance. Big mistake.

But the thought of failing fills you with so much dread that you force yourself to stare at the material for a substantial amount of time. You wish you’d started studying weeks ago.

After writing several outlines, re-copying notes, and cramming as much information in your head as you can, you’ve resigned yourself to failure. And you’re completely okay with it.

Just remind yourself that in a few days, your room will be empty, summer will start, and you will walk out of your last final like this:

You got this, friends!
