The saying goes that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and March 17is almost here. The holiday that started out as a Roman Catholic feast day is now a celebration of everything green and Irish—and I’m not just talking about corned beef and cabbage. Fortunately, there’s plenty of places to get your Irish on across campus Thursday.
For those looking to celebrate with traditional (and not-so-traditional) food and drink, Ted’s has specials all day on everything from Jameson’s to car bombs. They will also serve St. Patty’s Day staples like shepherd’s pie and corned beef sandwiches starting at 11 a.m.
Huskies will also be getting into the holiday spirit, with half-price drinks from 5-8 p.m. and free food starting at 5 p.m. As usual, Nickel Night will be from 8-9:45.
If you’re looking for dinner before heading out, there will be themed dinners at the North, South, Whitney, and Putnam dining halls on campus. For those without a meal plan, Chuck & Augie’s has you covered. The restaurant has a special menu for Thursday night, complete with Steak & Guinness pie and Chocolate Irish Cream cheesecake for dessert.
Remember, wherever you go Thursday, green attire and accessories are a must! As the Irish would say, Beannachtam na Feile Padraig! (Yes, that means “Happy St. Patrick’s Day,” and no, I can’t help you pronounce it correctly).
