Rachel Says: Winter White is Trending for Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Winter is finally about to come to an end with the first day of spring just two weeks away! This winter, we were hit hard with white, fluffy snow and as much as we want to welcome spring colors with open arms, white remains to be popular for spring! White is here to stay–at least until Labor Day–with denim, tops, nails, and shoes!

How to: The White Blazer

White blazers are a must-have “basic” to add to your closet collection! They are so versatile and can be worn all year with other basic colors or to add subtleness to a colorful ensemble. For spring, pair your white blazer, cropped or long, with a bright, loose top and colored denim. Keep the sandal or wedge simple and add earrings and a chunky necklace or bangles, and a colored bag to complete the look. Rock a white blazer for a day time look or for an evening look with a spring dress.

How to: White Denim

White denim is an optimal choice once the weather starts to reach a comfortable 70 degrees. Avoid pairing white pants, shorts, or a skirt with a black top for spring, unless you accessorize with color, color, COLOR! A bright color like pink, yellow, or blue are great spring colors to pair with your white denim, and another fashion do, pairing your white denim with a white top. Just like the forever chic black on black look, an all white or cream ensemble can be just as fabulous. However, this can be risky so try to match the whites as closely as you can! All white everything can look clean and fabulous, but so too can all white everything with colored accessories to make your outfit pop.

How to: White Mani’s and Pedi’s

The newest trend to dress up your fingers and toes is a glossy or matte white polish! Celebs like Kim Kardashian often rock this chic new trend. Painted nails and toes are a definite must for spring and summer; not only does it complete your look, but it also acts as an accessory to your fun look! Essie and OPI have great white options like Essie’s “Picket Fence” or “Marshmallow”.

How to: A White Shoe

White shoes, like a white bag, can make any girl cringe of fear for ruining the accessory’s pristine condition. But, a white heel or flat can make for a chic and simple look. A floral or bold colored dress with an oversized colored bag and a simple shoe keeps the look from looking too busy or, add a white shoe to finish off your head to toe look in white.

So, try out some of these white-inspired looks to add a fresh, chic look to your bright spring wardrobe. If you are afraid of all the floral patterns and colors, tone it down with something white! Fashion is fun, and so is trying something new, so don’t be afraid to freshen your look with whites and creams!
