Stop waiting to find your Hallmark romance when it’s the dead of winter, and you’re back at home for the holidays (you’re bored and redownloading Tinder, please stop). Here are some reasons why “hot girl summer” could actually bring you the love you’ve been waiting for… and I know you secretly want someone to carry that heavy beach bag for you after a long day of tanning.

for the single girls

Even though it is said that winter is when everyone is ready to cuddle up together, summer is the season the most attention is received, and it’s time to use it to your advantage. From your gorgeous tan to sun kissed hair and cute bikinis, now is the time to approach the stranger at the beach bar, or finally hold eye contact a little longer with your airport crush. Summer is a season of self-love, confidence, and attracting new energy. You’re on top of your goals; the sun is setting late, and every day is spent outside.

Still doubtful? According to a 2023 study in the New York Post, one in 10 women around the month of January are over the cold, stating how going longer than seven weeks with low temperatures and sunlight impacts their confidence and mood. Additionally, a picture study done in 2013 in the Telegraph compared around 2,000 males and females in winter versus summer months. It found that 72% of people looked healthier and happier in the summer months, while 37% looked more confident.

This difference comes from the extra time spent outdoors, impacts of sunlight, and clothing that is worn. It’s time to channel your new self into a summer fling that could eventually lead to something more. Make the most of this season if it’s love that you’re looking for.

for the girls looking for a fling

Okay, so you have a summer romance in mind, but you’re unsure of where to go with it. It’s understandable, maybe you don’t remember the last summer you were with someone, or maybe you do and it didn’t end so well. Either way, summer is the chance to try new things together. You’ve already captured their attention, so now it’s time to do all the activities you’ve been waiting to have someone tag along on. From picnics to the family Fourth of July party, the summer is your oyster. The cute restaurants you want to try, or the skinny-dipping you’re always too nervous to do… now is your chance to seize the moment. Whether you’re looking for long-term commitment, or just a season of fun, why not at least open yourself up to the idea of it? This is an opportunity to enjoy the best version of yourself with someone else who also finds you a catch.

for the girls who are committed

This one’s for the girls who find themselves cuffed just before the season. If this is your first summer not being single, the idea of being committed might feel a little overwhelming or unusual. However, this is also a chance to enjoy being with the person you love. For those who are excited about the experience (as you should be!), although you might hear the hot girl summer remarks coming from everyone else, it’s always nice to have someone ready to pick you up at a moment’s notice for a boat or pool day. Now is the chance to book your vacation and trips together and lounge on the deck while they cook you up some steak on the grill.

Additionally, this could be a chance to take the vacation as a time to travel together and learn more about each other. The best way to see if this will stick in the long run is to play “house” for just a little while. See how far your compatibility goes in terms of living together, problem-solving, and planning for your future.

Hopefully, these are enough reasons to start considering a summer romance and acknowledging all the confidence you carry. Summer is your season to shine!
