Even if you have been living under a cubicle at Homer the past week, you’re bound to have heard about tonight’s big game. If you haven’t been watching so far, this is definitely the time to switch on the tube.

The Huskies play 4-seed Kentucky at Houston in order to advance to the championship game. Last time we took on the Wildcats was November 24th at the EA Sports Maui Invitational Tournament where we defeated them, 84-67.

Kentucky Freshman, #12 Brandon Knight averages 17.3 points per game and may be Kemba’s biggest competition tonight.  Senior Josh Harrellson, #55, has been hot on floor too.

The real story here though is the competition between coaches. Our beloved Calhoun has a long-time rivalry with Kentucky Coach Calipari. These boys were in a typical turf war back in 1988 when Calipari coached UMass. Well, it’s safe to say Calhoun brought UConn to the top of New England Basketball, and tonight is his chance to take us to the top again.

This is a really exciting time for UConn because both the Men’s and the Women’s team are headed to the Final Four. UConn been the only school to win both tournaments in the same year (in 2004), and it looks like we have a shot at that prestigious title again.

Ready to join the Madness? Well, Huskies opens at 7PM with a free buffet, $2 drafts and $3 bottles until 10PM. Thirsty Dog will debuting a new projection screen, free buffet and $1 pitchers until 10PM, plus other drink specials. Teds is serving up $3 Corona/Corona Lights and $2 well drinks and drafts from 8PM-11PM.  So, no matter where you end up tonight you are sure to have a great time.  If you decide to host your own party, turn on CBS at 8:49PM. Let’s go Huskies!

Bridget is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in journalism and anthropology. Between interning at The Hartford Courant/Fox CT and a nonprofit education agency during the week, she manages a website she founded about cooking quick, healthy meals for college students, and writes for Examiner.com about creating low-budget meals. She is a campus rep for BaubleBar jewelry, and served as a peer mentor to freshmen this year. Bridget studied abroad in London, and interned at a lifestyle magazine over the summer in Shanghai, China. Her free time is dedicated to scouring the Internet for discount designer shoes and following UConn and Boston sports. She's training for a half marathon this spring, which (at times) justifies her weakness for mint chocolate chip ice cream. She hopes to see every inch of the world someday, and maybe write about it too.
