Grille 86 & Huskies Tavern Review

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Huskies Tavern

Huskies Tavern, located conveniently right next to Huskies Bar, has recently opened up for the public. What’s so great about the Tavern is that they promise there will never be a cover and they offer live music to listen to. The menu is small but very reasonably priced, making this a good place to go grab a meal for $10 or less. The Tavern is open Tuesday through Saturday, each day offering a different special.

  • Tuesday – Daily Kick a Keg: Featuring different premium and domestic draft specials every day ($2 domestic drafts, $6 domestic pitchers, $3 premium drafts, and $9 premium pitchers).
  • Wednesday – Martini Night: $3 martinis with five flavors to choose from (Cosmo, Pistachio, Blue Dream, Sour Apple, and Pink Lemonade).
  • Thursday – Margarita Night: $4 margaritas with five flavors to choose from (Original, Melon, Orange, Peach, and Raspberry).
  • Friday – Daily Kick a Keg
  • Saturday – Daily Kick a Keg

“The Tavern is a good atmosphere for college kids to enjoy a different bar scene without breaking the bank.” – Luke L., senior

“The live music is what really makes the place.” – Rachel T., senior

Grille 86

Grille 86 is located right in Storrs Center making it easy for any Oaks residents to stop by. The menu here is a bit pricier, costing around $13 for a burger, but the taste and toppings makes up for it. The menu offers some great appetizers that can be shared by the table. Happy hour is every day from 4-7 p.m. with a menu consisting of $4 cocktails, $3 wine and $3 beers. The happy hour food menu has an assortment of selections all under $4. Five-dollar Barcardi and Cokes are offered all day, seven days a week for those on a budget.

“Grille 86 is a bit pricey, but has a good happy hour menu and is a nice place to drink a beer and watch a game,” Andrew P., senior
