It’s that time of year again! The leaves are beginning to change color, the weather is getting colder, and it’s finally acceptable to order a pumpkin spice latte. You and your friends may have gotten into the rut of doing the same things all the time, but there are plenty of activities to do to shake things up before it gets too cold! Don’t let that autumn chill bring you down. Bundle up and enjoy some of these fun activities for you and your friends or family.
Apple Picking
Who doesn’t love a good apple pie? Head over to a local orchard and start picking your favorite kind of apples. UConn students can head over to Wright’s Orchard in Tolland, CT. They charge you by the pound, so if you’re looking to keep it cheap- share a bag with friends!
Pumpkin Picking & Decorating Pumpkins
While you’re at Wright’s Orchard, be sure to check out their pumpkin patch too! Pumpkins are a classic Halloween necessity and are completely versatile- use them for decoration or to bake a yummy pumpkin pie! Check out some of these great pumpkin decorating ideas. Get together with the girls and see who can make the most creative one!
Haunted House Tour
If you’re up for the thrill, definitely check out a haunted house. Tolland County is hosting “Candlelight Evenings at the Homestead: Things That Go Bump in the Night” this October 16-17, 23-24. Tours are given at 6 and 8 pm. It is a candlelight tour, room-by-room, up into a dark attic. Perfect for a date with your man or a fun night out with friends!
Movie Marathon
Snuggle up under some blankets, make some hot cocoa, and watch some classic Halloween movies. I suggest Disney’s Hocus Pocus. But if you’re up for the thrill, grab some popcorn and put on Paranormal Activity. Maybe have a buddy to watch it with you (scary movies are the worst when you are alone.)
Baking
For one of those cooler evenings, spend the night inside baking some yummy treats. Here is a great place to find some festive desserts.
