This week’s Campus Celebrity is Albi Hasku who is the new president of UConn Consulting Group, a student organization that aims to promote the profession of management consulting.
Name: Albi Hasku
Year: Junior
Major: Finance
Hometown: Cheshire, CT
When and how did you get involved with UConn Consulting Group?
I first became involved with the organization last year after learning about its existence through an email sent to all business students. I found my experience with the group extremely valuable, so I became excited when I realized that I had the opportunity to take a leadership role in the organization by becoming its president this year.
What are some of your responsibilities as president?
There will be several changes to the group from last year. We are shifting the focus of the group from mostly doing projects to doing a few projects, but mainly learning the art and profession of consulting. Therefore, one of my biggest responsibilities is to assure that this transition goes smoothly by meeting with the Vice President of the group and beginning to establish our Executive Board. Also, our group plans to begin recruiting next semester, so that is something that I have to coordinate.
Does your group work with other student organizations on campus?
We absolutely do. Currently we are in the beginning stages of development so we are not focused as much on doing projects for other groups. However, once we build a solid foundation for ourselves, we look forward to working with other student organizations that may need consulting advice.
What are your career aspirations after graduating from UConn?
I would really like to work in either investment banking or management consulting.
Do you have any suggestions or advice for other business students?
My biggest advice would be to get involved with the School of Business because there are many organizations you can be a part of and, speaking from experience, you do learn a lot by attending the regular meetings and hearing industry professionals speak.
