Warning- your makeup, hair, and facial behaviors may actually be causing more detriment then you realize. Here are 8 beauty habits that should have been combatted… well, yesterday.
1. Going to sleep with your makeup
While we’d love to look like T Swift any day of the week, this makeup-smugged look is not cute. Take the time to remove your makeup each night before bed or face the wrath of raccoon eyes.
Â
2. Never changing your pillowcase
Your pillowcase is saturated with lots of dirt and oils. Changing it once a week, for instance, will prevent unwanted gunk from clogging your pores.
Â
3. Failing to hydrate
It can be easy to forget about our good friend H2O, however, drinking plenty of water is essential. Put a water bottle by your side while studying, or aim to drink a glass at each meal.  Not only will staying hydrated keep your thirst quenched, but also it will help your skin look its best.
Â
4. Overpluking your eyebrows
While having “brows on fleek” is desirable, over-pluked ones are quite the opposite. Aim to have clean brows, not super thin ones. Use the picture below to guide your plucking… just don’t go overboard!
Â
5. Washing your hair everyday
Skip the shampoo and conditioner routine everyday and opt to wash your hair every other day. A daily wash will strip the shine and natural oils from your hair.
Â
6. Popping your pimples
No one wants to walk around with Mount Rushmore on their face, BUT unless you want to be left with a scar, let your pimples run their course. Don’t pick, pop, or rub them.
Â
7. Applying moisturizer with dirty hands
Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before applying any type of moisturizer or facial lotion in order to prevent the germs/dirt on your hands from clogging your pores.
Â
8. Allowing your makeup to overstay its’ welcome
If you haven’t thrown out your makeup in a few months, it’s time to toss. Especially with eye makeup, such as mascara or eyeliner, old or overused makeup will only irritate your eyes. Sounds like the perfect excuse for a Sephora trip!
