As college students, not only are we on a budget, but we’re always on the go. As a certified makeup lover, I have compiled a list of my favorite makeup products to add to your regimen that is going to *change* your life. Not only are they affordable, but they are also going to make you wonder why you ever shopped for high-end beauty products. If you’re someone that’s just beginning and doesn’t know where to start, no worries, this list also has great options for you.

Essence Lash Princess Mascara

This is my new all-time favorite mascara! I was hopelessly devoted to the Better Than Sex Mascara by TooFaced until I found this. It’s less than half the price and gives me volume and length with two passes through my eyelashes. You’re guaranteed to get questions about your mascara and compliments about your lashes.

Elf Poreless Putty Primer

Most high-end primers are so not worth the hype (or the price) and don’t do anything for long-wearing makeup. This primer is compact – perfect for traveling or just to bring out for the day if you leave your dorm. It prepares smooth skin for the application of makeup.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

This makeup sponge is perfect for those who refuse to apply their foundation with a brush (like me). It’s the closest drug store sponge that I’ve found to the BeautyBlender. It blends well without absorbing excess product and doesn’t leave my skin looking patchy.

L’oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

I cannot say enough about how much I am in LOVE with this foundation. You need it in your life. Like now. It’s my favorite makeup product on this list, and probably my favorite foundation that I have ever tried, including the high-end ones. It’s lightweight and long-lasting, has no fragrance, and comes in so many shades.

CoverGirl TruBlend Minerals Loose Mineral Powder

Everyone knows how important the baking step is in order to set your under-eye makeup. This loose powder is everything – it makes my makeup stay for hours on end, so much so that I use it to set my whole face now. It can be a little bit messy, but the end result is so worth it. It can be applied with a brush or sponge; either way, it sits perfectly on the skin.

Wet n Wild PhotoFocus Matte Finish Setting Spray

This setting spray by Wet n Wild is literally only $4.99, and it will be a permanent entity in my purse from now on. This spray is so much better than any of the high-end setting sprays on the market right now. It doesn’t leave your face feeling wet or sticky, which is an issue I always have when using other sprays. It’s a perfect addition to the CoverGirl setting powder and will leave your makeup on all day, or night.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Treatment Concealer

This concealer has been a staple in my makeup routine for a while now. If you’re someone who is bothered by your dark circles – this one’s for you. This concealer does a great job of covering my dark circles without having to apply a ridiculous amount of product. The bottle only releases the product when it is twisted, so it doesn’t leave a mess when it’s not being used. I like to use a peachy tone for my under eyes and a brighter tone for highlighting my nose and cheekbones.
