The 59th Annual Grammy Awards: Fashion Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

It’s award season! Yes, that means crazy performances and hilarious hosts, but the best part is definitely the fashion. Last night at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, we saw a ton of it. From political influence dresses to barely-there gowns, here are our picks for the best and worst dressed at the 2017 Grammys.

Best Dressed:

Demi Lovato

What’s wrong with being confident? Nothing! Demi’s confidence shines through in this sheer dress, literally!

Paris Jackson

Two words: SHE SLAYED. This look has the perfect amount of edge and class. Paris’ look was a fan favorite on the carpet.

Heidi Klum

Klum’s look is so effortlessly sexy that it’s giving us all the feels. Our HC writers have a total girl crush on her after this look.

Carrie Underwood

The queen of country music slays again. While many are scared to wear red on a red carpet, Carrie does it with style. She is always glam and this time was no different.

Camila Cabello

Making her first red carpet appearance after her split from Fifth Harmony, Camilla is showing off her softer side. This look gives us total princess vibes.

Rihanna

This two piece look was a definite head turner. Rihanna’s version of a ball gown was a bold choice that was unforgettable.

Maren Morris

LACE FOR DAYS! What could be better?

Kelsea Ballerini

She looks like a majestic fairy. We’re loving the ethereal look Kelsea is giving off.

Worst Dressed:

Jennifer Lopez

We so badly wanted JLo to look flawless like she always does, but unfortunately, this look did nothing for us. The color “resembled a bad bridesmaids dress” one of our HC writers said. The huge flower on the neck was too much. Though we love when our Jenny from the block mixes it up, we much prefer her usual look to this.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry definitely embraces her unique style and we really wanted to as well. Our HC writers claimed that “the waistline was so weird” and that “it would’ve looked better if it was shorter.” But it wasn’t all bad! We all loved her hair and makeup; definitely on point.

Joy Villa

All political opinions aside, this dress did not do anything for us. The styling definitely missed the mark. It also felt like a cry for attention, because frankly, we have no idea who she is. Our HC writers did not have many positive vibes about this look.
