College can be super stressful as we all know, so it’s important to find healthy ways to wind down. If you’re a student at the University of Connecticut you should try taking a walk around the beautiful campus. Here are four locations at UConn that are great for walking and unwinding.

Horsebarn hill:

Visiting Horsebarn Hill is on everyone’s UConn bucket list. Were you really a husky if you’ve never been to Horsebarn Hill? This is a great spot to catch the sunset or take a stroll. There’s no question as to why UConn uses Horsebarn Hill for the annual sunset yoga.

Having the best agriculture school in the state has its perks and access to the horses at Horsebarn Hill is definitely one of them. Taking a walk to see the cows and horses is a fun activity, especially if you’re an animal lover. Regardless, it’s a great place for a scenic walk and the best place on campus to watch the sunset.

Downtown Storrs:

Downtown is the home to so many staple UConn restaurants, like Dog Lane Cafe, D.P. Dough, and Insomnia Cookies — but it’s also a cute area to take a walk. So grab a snack and take a walk around Downtown Storrs. If you’re running some errands, downtown is the perfect place to get your steps in.

Downtown Storrs is also a great place to get some groceries and grab essentials, so you can master multi-tasking by getting your steps in and shopping. If you live in Buckley or Shippee or anywhere else near downtown, taking a walk to get a coffee in the morning is easier than ever.

Mirror and Swan Lake:

Mirror Lake and Swan Lake are both great places to take a walk on a nice day if you’re looking for a shorter distance. The beautiful greenery and around the lakes and make them great places to walk and get a nice breeze of cool air.

Campus Road Dogs Walking/Jogging Routes:

Most of us have probably walked around pretty much all of campus, but what you probably didn’t know is that UConn created a map of good routes for walking or jogging. These maps are amazing because they show you the distance of the route you’re taking. These range from one all the way to six miles! There’s definitely something for everyone.

These paths are also pet-friendly and a great way for students with pets to get their animals to exercise.

It’s clear that college students need ways to destress, and one of my favorites is the notorious Hot Girl Walk. As a UConn student, I have gotten the opportunity to explore the campus and discover all of its hidden and not-so-hidden gems. These locations have all been great places for me to destress and take a nice Hot Girl Walk, so give it a try — you might even find a new place of your own to decompress.
