As February 14th rolls around this year, grab your box of chocolates, your best gal pals, and get ready to spend the night with the 14 best chick flicks for Valentine’s Day.

 

1. Legally Blonde (2001) 

Arguably one of the most iconic chick flicks of all time, let Elle Woods empower you to be your best self.

 

2. She’s The Man (2006)

Amanda Bynes goes undercover as her twin brother to prove she can play soccer on a guy’s team, all the while falling for her roommate, played by Channing Tatum.

3. Notting Hill (1999)

Watch shy, British, bookstore owner Will Thacker and famous, American moviestar Anna Scott fall in love in this 90s film.

4. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Heath Ledger serenading Julia Stiles’ character Kat is just one of the highlights of this modern romantic comedy retelling of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.

 

5. How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)  

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey star as a magazine columnist writing on how to lose a guy in 10 days, and a marketing associate trying to make a girl fall in love with him in 10 days, while neither is aware of the other’s intentions.

 

6. Mama Mia! (2008)

Meryl Streep stars as Donna, the mother of bride-to-be Sophie, who must deal with the fallout of her daughter inviting three men her mother had past relationships with, in the hopes that one is her father.

 

7. Stuck in Love (2012) 

The film follows a family of writers as they experience the ups and downs of love and life, and you’ll laugh and cry right along with them.

8. Clueless (1995)

Alicia Silverstone’s depiction of high school student Cher is relatable on so many levels as she searches for a relationship with substance.  

9. Safe Haven (2013)

Katie is a girl with a broken past, searching for a place to call home, while Alex is a single father who might be the home she was looking for.

 

10. A Cinderella Story (2004)

Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray play star-crossed lovers in this early 2000s flick. If not for this film, we wouldn’t have the iconic “Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought. Useless and disappointing,” scene that we all know and love.

 

11. When in Rome (2010)

While celebrating her sister’s wedding in Rome, unlucky-in-love Beth steals a few coins out of the “fountain of love,” not realizing that by doing so, the owners of the coins will fall madly in love with her and pursue her relentlessly.

 

12. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

After his girlfriend of five years breaks up with him in this comedy, Peter travels to Hawaii on a vacation and begins to start a new romance, only to learn that his ex-girlfriend Sarah Marshall is vacationing there with her new boyfriend.

 

13. The Proposal (2009) 

When her work visa expires and she’s about to be deported to Canada, Margaret convinces her assistant Andrew to marry her in exchange for helping his career, allowing her to stay in the country. Neither of them is prepared to deal when their pretend romance suddenly becomes real. This movie also gets bonus points for having the iconic Betty White play Andrew’s grandmother.

 

14. Sex and the City (2008) 

This list wouldn’t be complete without the girl squad movie to end all girl squad movies. Join Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha as they tackle love and life in the this big screen sequel to the acclaimed TV show.
