10 Movies We’re Totally Pumped for in 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

2017 looks like a promising year for some pretty great movies.  Here are 10 movies we can’t wait to see next year.

1. Beauty and the Beast

As if there weren’t enough reasons to love Emma Watson, now she is back playing our favorite Disney princess. From the spine-tingling trailer this movie looks like it will be absolutely amazing. The film features an A-list cast including Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Audra McDonald, Josh Gad, and Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey as the Beast. I for one can’t wait to “be a guest” and go see this movie when it comes out on March 17th.

2. Spider-Man: Homecoming

After making his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland will be suiting up again as Spider-Man in the newest adaptation of the web-slinging hero. The trailer has just recently been released and, with Marvel behind it, this movie will surely be a hit. Spider-Man: Homecoming reportedly swings into theaters in July.

3. Fast 8

Admit it, you secretly love this franchise. Back for the first movie without Paul Walker, Fast 8 is sure to be an emotional one. And even though no trailer has dropped for this movie, when it does I’m sure I’ll be the first one to watch it. Fast 8 is coming to theaters in April 2017.

4. Thor: Ragnorak

As if we needed another reason to see Chris Hemsworth shirtless, Thor is back next year for the next installment in the series. Although the plot is unknown for this movie, Benedict Cumberbatch is confirmed to be in it so we are getting our double dose of hotties in one movie. Thor roars into theaters in late 2017.

5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Not going to lie, I have a soft spot in my heart for the first Guardians of the Galaxy. That movie had everything: action, comedy, romance and great actors. So it’s no surprise that I’m super pumped for the sequel. The trailer is super funny and makes the movie look amazing. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes to theatres in May of 2017.

6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Six years since the last installment in the franchise, Captain Jack Sparrow is back and ready for more. These films basically made up my childhood so I am super pumped for this next one. The trailer is ominous and confusing, allowing for a lot of surprises in the movie. Dead Men Tell No Tales is slated to come out May of 2017.

7. Jumanji

Growing up, one of my all-time favorite movies was Jumanji with Robin Williams. So when I found out they were making a sequel I was curious. How would it turn out? What would it be about? After casting Dwayne Johnson I was even more curious. Can this movie truly live up to the original? Only time will tell but fingers are crossed for the best. Jumanji will be released in December of 2017.

8. Star Wars: Episode VIII

Okay, to be honest I’m a slight Star Wars geek. I love everything about those movies and have the biggest crush on Obi Wan. So now with new Star Wars movies coming out every year for the forseeable future I am happy as a clam. The next installment after Rogue One will be released in December of 2017, just in time for a gaziilion holiday toys to be made and I couldn’t be more pumped about it.

9. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Featuring the hotness that is Charlie Hunnam and directed by action movie legend Guy Ritchie, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword looks like it could be next year’s big blockbuster. Everyone should seriously go watch the trailer now because you will literally want to see the movie right away (or at least that’s how I feel). This movie charges into theatres in March of 2017.

10. Wonder Woman

Okay we need to finish this list up with a bit if girl power and there is no better way to do so than to talk about the highly anticipated Wonder Woman movie. If the movie is anything like the trailer it will be absolutely amazing. Gal Gadot is the perfect choice to play such an awesome, badass superhero! This movie is pretty high on my must-see list. Wonder Woman comes to theaters in June of 2017.
