It’s that time of year when once again, we must face the daunting question: What do I get my mom for Mother’s Day? Perhaps more importantly, how do I show my love and appreciation for everything she’s done? And how do I do that on a college student’s budget?

Here are a couple of unique and affordable gift options:

If your mother is a tea drinker, consider getting a cute teapot set or gourmet tea sampler from Teavana.

Does she like flowers? Don’t go for boring roses. Get something special, like potted orchids, while are exotic and long lasting. (Some varieties last for months or years!)

If your mother is a fashionista, Ann Loft, The Limited, and Banana Republic are great stores that sell tasteful yet stylish accessories for the older crowd.

Does she like experiences? Check out Groupon for deals on massages, restaurant outings, cooking classes, and more!

If your mother is a foodie, check out gourmet food-of-the-month clubs, which deliver special food packages to her doorstep once a month. Subscribe to anything, from wine and chocolate to international food collections. Check out igourmet.com and Dean & Deluca to start.

If your mother is quirky, check out Uncommon Goods and Perpetual Kid for some funky, one-of-a-kind gifts.

If she doesn’t like receiving gifts at all, consider gift donations, which allow you to donate to charities in her name.

And of course, nothing beats an old-fashioned card, handmade with love and care. If writing’s not your thing, paint her a picture and give her a playlist. Nothing says love like creativity!
