It’s finally here. The end of winter quarter. SPRING BREAK.
As you prepare for a week of relaxation, start getting ready for an exciting spring quarter! Here are a few things for you to look forward to:
Warmer weather: Self-explanatory. But seriously, I will no longer look like a marshmallow with my big down jacket.
Spring clothes: Goodbye earmuffs, hats, jackets, and layers and hello dresses! SO excited to finally be able to wear cute clothes without having them hiding under my jackets. Also, I don’t know about you, but the cold this past quarter was basically my excuse to wear sweats all the time, so the warm weather should be a nice change.
Trips to the Lake: I’ve talked about going to the “Promontory Point” all the time. But I never have because it’s been SO cold. This spring, we’re finally going to be able to head out to the lake for a refreshing break from homework. Picnics, biking, beaches, and surfing if you’re really ambitious.
Summer Breeze: It’s an annual event organized by our Major Activities Board and includes fun outdoor activities during the day and a concert in the evening! We had Ludacris last year, and I can’t wait to find out who’s coming this year.
Dance Marathon: 12 hours of continuous dancing sounds amazing doesn’t it? The UChicago Dance Marathon is a year-long philanthropic project and hosts this annual Marathon event to benefit The Children’s Place Association. Come out for an awesome night of live performances, great food, games, raffle prizes, and dancing!
Culture Shows: Spring is the perfect time for our cultural RSO’s to showcase their music, dance, and awesome food! The South Asian Students Association will be kicking off spring quarter on April 6th with their 2013 show: The All-Nighter. Harper Court (53rd Street): The Harper Court project broke ground in November 2011 and is scheduled to finish construction this summer! We saw Harper Theater open up a few months ago, and we can look forward to more restaurant openings this quarter.
Superhero Movies: Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel will be coming your way this quarter. Iron Man will be released on May 3rd and Man of Steel in June. Get ready for some midnight showings with your friends!
