On Saturday, health-based community service organization GlobeMed hosted their annual Global Getdown in the Cloister Club at Ida Noyes.
Â
The event was a fundraiser to raise money for ASPAT Peru, the RSO’s partner organization. ASPAT aims to improve treatment for tuberculosis patients in Peru who often cannot afford or access necessary medical resources. The organization also seeks to fight the stigma associated with tuberculosis patients in some areas of Peru.

Â
Attendees were served authentic Peruvian food after contributing a ten dollar donation. They were then welcomed to stay for RSO performances that included numbers by PhiNix Dance Crew and a cappella group, Voices in Your Head. Rhythmic Bodies in Motion (RBIM), UBallet, Soul Umoja, Unaccompanied Women, and Run for Cover rounded off the list of performers.
Â
Globemed members Cindy Sui and Leslie Gailloud hosted the fundraiser and encouraged each group to speak on global health equity. Equal access to health resources has been a cornerstone of GlobeMed’s fundraising efforts on campus, which include selling Beta fish to students in want of a pet.
Â
A total of 685 dollars was raised by the end of the night, all of which will be donated to ASPAT Peru.
