The Skincare Brand I Can’t Get Enough Of

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Alberta chapter.

Towards the end of 2018, I had managed to get most of my acne under control. I knew exactly what was causing my spots and could predict their arrival pretty accurately, based on whether on my diet or whether or not I was on my period. Because of this, most of my active acne subsided (yay!), but I still had to deal with the aftermath of years of acne- dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and ridiculously uneven skin texture.

As I often do when faced with a problem, I turned to the internet to find remedies for my skin. Hours spent watching (and trying) YouTube skincare regimens did little for these problems though. It seemed like the only way was to save up for spot removal treatment, but I was reluctant to have to spend that much money on a procedure that may not even have been a permanent fix.

I found out about the Ordinary last summer and ordered one of their serums. I didn’t see changes as quickly as I’d hoped, so I abandoned the brand for months. This past January, I noticed more and more women with skin almost identical to mine swearing by the brand’s products as the reason for their improved skin. I decided to give it another try and I’m so happy I did.

I made a small order to begin with- a toning solution and two direct acids, each targeting a different aspect of my skin that I want to improve. Although it took over a month to see the changes, they are slowly starting to come through. The products are probably the cheapest part of my skincare regimen, and I got free shipping after spending only 25 CAD!

They have so many products, targeting so many aspects of skincare that it’s easy to get overwhelmed when browsing their website. Having some idea of what you want to work on is a good place to start. Also, read reviews and the instructions before you try anything; this is especially important if you have sensitive or inflamed skin!!

Overall I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this brand. My products arrived right on time, and though they took a while to work, I can definitely see a difference. If you’re looking for some new products to add to your regimen, this might be the brand for you.
