It’s that time of year again where the weather gets colder and we begin to enter spooky season. Everyone breaks out the pumpkins and candy, and turns on their favourite scary movie. For some people, the scary theme isn’t exactly up their alley, and it might be one of the reasons they don’t like this holiday. I have complied a list of Halloween movies that can help you get in the Halloween mood without getting spooked.

“It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”

This movie was a staple all throughout my childhood. I only watched it at one time of year, but it was always one of my favourites. It contains the always loveable Peanuts gang and follows Linus as he tries to convince everyone that the Great Pumpkin exists. It is a great movie that is always on tv around Halloween and is perfect for anyone who wants to watch a Halloween-themed movie and have a few laughs along the way.

“Casper”

Casper is another film that I absolutely love to watch around Halloween. Who doesn’t love a little ghost who looks like a marshmallow? This film isn’t as commonly talked about  as some others that I have included in my list, but nevertheless, is a perfect film if you want to watch a movie about ghosts without the spooky paranormal aspect.

“Hocus Pocus”

This film is an absolute classic and an essential when it comes to Halloween. It is the perfect movie for all ages and also contains the incredible talent of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. I highly recommend throwing on Hocus Pocus while you’re busy carving pumpkins or spending the night in with some friends.

“Ghostbusters”

Another classic Halloween film that is a must watch is Ghostbusters! I’m sure everyone has probably already heard of and most likely seen this film but it is such a staple when it comes to Halloween. My personal favourite is the original, but if you want to dive even deeper into the Ghostbusters universe you can also check out the sequel, as well as the all-female reboot that was done a couple years ago starring Kristin Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.

“Halloweentown”

If you grew up watching Disney Channel like I did then you know that Halloweentown was always on during October. It may be aimed at a younger audience, but is beloved by all ages. There are also multiple sequels, so grab some of your girlfriends, curl up at home with your favourite candy and have yourself a movie marathon.
