My All Time Favourite Chicken Restaurant in Edmonton

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Alberta chapter.

Over the summer I visited Northern Chicken in Edmonton and now it is one of my go to

restaurants. Their menu contains everything chicken, from fried chicken to chicken fingers and

they also have a variety of different sauces with a range of heat levels. My personal favourite is

the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the mustard seasoning. It comes on a large piece of texas toast

and is covered with your seasoning of choice as well as coleslaw. It is definitely a messy meal so

be prepared to have lots of napkins on sight. The sandwich is also served with a side of coleslaw

but I always opt to pay a dollar to swap it out for their famous Dorito Mac and Cheese. This dish

is awesome and it makes you rethink how mac and cheese is supposed to be eaten, as after just a

couple of bites it instantly becomes your favourite variation of the classic meal. Northern

Chicken also has a wide variety of beers you can choose from to accompany your meal, both on

tap and in bottles/cans as well as different cocktails they can whip together. I personally take the

non-alcoholic route and have some of their house made lemonade. I find that the sweetness pairs

perfectly with the savouriness of the chicken. Northern Chicken’s atmosphere is also amazing

and different from a lot of restaurants in Edmonton. During the lunch and dinner hours it is the

perfect spot to catch a quick bite and with their large variety of tables it makes the perfect spot to

hang out with friends. They also have a room that you can reserve for a large group and they

even serve brunch on Sundays! Northern Chicken also does lots of catering, so if you ever want

to impress a large group with some delicious soul food, Northern Chicken is the way to go.

Overall I think Northern Chicken is one of the best places in Edmonton for fried chicken and is

an awesome place to visit if you want to support local businesses.
