Fall fashion is where I thrive, I absolutely love layering and having a great coat to add to your outfit for a polished business casual look. Now, trends change like the weather but if you are anything like me and are on a tight budget then these essentials will be perfect for you. The significant thing is these will never go out of style because they are so intertwined with a capsule wardrobe that you can’t go wrong. However, colour and pattern trends do change, so be wary of that if you are buying eccentric patterns. For all the time wear, plain blues and maroon is a brilliant colour for fall along with check patterns and leather. This fall the trends I have noticed coming to light in magazines and fashion blogs are classic blue, the skirt suit, statement collars, and belted jackets. And so, these are my 5 fall essentials you need in your closet.

1. Faux leather pants – dressed down with chunky knit sweaters

Faux leather pants are fantastic. They can be dressed up or down and are perfect for that happy hour look when you want to look like you tried, but you really didn’t. I pair mine with a chunky knit sweater, a leather bomber, and some classic Chelsea boots to get a more grunge look. Try these from Zara: https://www.zara.com/ca/en/faux-leather-pants-p04369270.html?v1=77953623&v2=1549992

2. A shirt

I don’t even want to count how many button-up shirts I own but I value them so much. A button-up is a brilliant choice for a look that can go from day to night seamlessly. In the daytime pairing a button-up with some light wash jeans gives a more casual look, but adding a blazer at night oozes fall fashion. Try this one from Aritzia: https://www.aritzia.com/en/product/relaxed-button-up/79295.html?dwvar_79295_color=15725

3. Trench coat

Trench coats are a must for me because I am an extremely cold person, and since belted jackets are in at the moment, it is a perfect opportunity to invest in one. However, for trench coats, I do prefer the more traditional design and colours because they pair much better with most things in my closet. Try this one from ASOS: https://www.asos.com/us/fashion-union/fashion-union-trench-coat/prd/20139627?colourwayid=60011829&SearchQuery=trench

4. Blazer

Ah blazers, the thing everyone on fashion tik tok is talking about. Personally, I have never fully warmed to the idea of having many blazers in my closet as a few classic colours and one pattern does the trick, but if you love them all the power to you. Here is a blazer that is on my to buy list at the moment: https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/ca/p/wool-blend-blazer-coat-41466819?seq=01&faceout=model1

5. Anything suede

Suede is a fantastic material for fall because it looks so polished, and yet it is incredibly comfy. Now I would not recommend suede boots unless you spray them with a water-resistant coating, but suede skirts and dresses are always in my closet. Here is a suede dress I have already worn this fall: https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/ca/p/plaid-pinafore-dress-41408319?seq=01&faceout=model1
