Okay let’s talk about it… The Tea App has gone absolutely viral all summer for women being able to get the scoop on men. Although it had its controversial yet popular moments, we can all agree that it has kept women from being in situations they  shouldn’t be in. With features like background checks, criminal history, catfish sensors, and so much more, you are bound to find something. The only question is… are you willing to look for it?

General Info

The app is a “women only” app to warn or let women know the inside scoop on men in their area. It was launched in 2023 by Sean Cook who created this app because he saw his own mom go through her own struggles with online dating. Don’t be fooled though, this is NO dating app, it is described as a dating safety platform.

He installed certain features that help build the app and what it’s meant for, such as Catfish Image sensors, Background checks, Sex offender search, Phone number look up, and Criminal Record searches. To access these tools, you must pay a monthly fee of $14.99.

Now, with every safety platform, rules have to be involved. After verifying with a picture of yourself or an ID (to verify you’re a woman), there are certain rules that pop up on the first screen. These rules state that you should not use your real name, not take screenshots, no putting false information, and no posting minors.

With all of this information, we ask ourselves, “how come we didn’t know about this sooner?” Well although this app has been around for years, the height of its popularity comes from social media. Tiktok and Instagram have brought light to the app, and now, there are over 6 million women that are actively using it.

The app has made its way to college towns such as Texas State University. We are always told stories about finding out how men are lying. Now with the app, every woman on campus can tell their story. This summer we found a few men that made their feature. I was made aware of someone that claims to be a student at the university, only for that to be false. He apparently didn’t go by his real name, which made it almost impossible to search him up in the student directory. After a bit of digging, and with help of the app. So many women were able to see his true colors. Although I decided to keep him anonymous for safety purposes. I advise women to get on the app, and look at it for yourself.

Although a lot of people have controversial opinions regarding this app, this app is proving to be vital when getting to know people and going on dates. This app is potentially becoming the most used app, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Do what you will with all of this information. As always, be safe girlies <333
