We’re all aware that the schedule of a college woman is similar to that of an over stimulated puppy – trying to fit too many activities in one day, and then promptly passing out at the end (maybe with water and food left out for you by your roommate depending on your liquid consumption that night). Call it OCD – call it psychotic – call it “way too intense,” but the relationship a collegiate has with her planner is similar to the relationship you have with the woman who birthed you – unbreakable. There is extreme trauma upon separation. Here’s the best of the best of Tulane’s planner heroes – these women put the team on their backs.
Morgan Wittenberg – Senior
Inside The Oval Office
“’He who fails to plan, plans to fail.’ Despite the fact that Google cannot decide whether this poetic statement was first said by Sir Winston Churchill or Benjamin Franklin, its meaning is thought provoking nonetheless. My dynamic duo of paper meets pixel ensures that I’m on top of all areas (and colors) in my life. Taste the rainbow, y’all.”
Mags LP – Senior
Because The Original Planner Just Isn’t Big (Or Color Coded) Enough
Mags staples different sheets into her planner and then rips them out at the end of the week. “I do it to keep myself from getting overwhelmed, because the more I plan ahead, the better time management I have. I don’t double book myself and I add/change things often, but it always starts when I get my syllabi. (Almost every premed I know has a planner like this).”
Kaitie Gillespie – Sophomore
Lilly P Please
“The reason why I love my Lilly planner so much is because it has so much space to write. I can write every little thing I need to do. The designs are super cute and girly, and I’m not usually cute and girly. Honestly, it kind of makes me feel like a super mom when I use it.”
Becca Faigen, Junior
TPLAM
Becca uses a color-coded post it system to keep up with her sorority’s constantly shifting schedule. “The post its make it easy to color coordinate each activity and event on the schedule. That way I know exactly what to look for and what is going to happen when. Color coordinating also helps to space out events appropriately so that we don’t end up having sisterhood events for an entire week straight.”
Megan Bogner, Sophomore
Triple Threat
Megan keeps three separate planners. “So there’s the monthly calendar that has everything for the whole month. It helps me make sure I can keep track of everything way in advance. Then here, side by side, is my weekly desk planner which has notes and reminders and things that I have to get done for the whole week. Then, I have my daily planner, which I carry with me and write notes in about classes, and different things I do for the organizations I’m in! So yeah, I know it’s like really lame having three calendars, but I would literally forget everything without them and they keep me really organized.”
Sarah Hostetler – Junior
The Custom Planner Made By A Random Lady In Her Basement
“Planners give you the ability to control the speed of the rotation of the earth for a week. After that week, writing down every time someone breathes becomes a hassle, but that planner stays a part of you for the remaining 358 days of the year until a new cover design comes out, and you fall for it all over again.”
