An Open Letter to My Younger Brother

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

To my not so little, little brother:

It’s hard to believe that in just a year you will be off to college. How did we get so old? It feels like yesterday that we were hitting each other in the back seat of the car, tattle telling every opportunity we got, and driving mom and dad completely crazy. Even though I used to consider you my annoying little brother, these past two years I have really missed you, and they have most definitely made me more appreciative to have you in my life. So, although I may not say them enough, here are the things I want to thank you for:

1. Thank you for taking care of the dog for me when I’m away

2. Thank you for always having my back

3. Thank you standing up for me

4. Thank you for protecting me from guys (even when I initially tell you not to get involved)

5. Thank you for laughing at my bad jokes

6. Thank you for covering for me MANY times

7. Thank you for giving me advice

8. Thank you for listening to my annoying rants

9. Thank you for appreciating all my Spotify playlists

10. Thank you for directing me when I park the car because you know I can’t do it

11. Thank you for being my partner in crime at family dinners

12. Thank you for staying with me at family functions, while we pretend to know who we’re talking to

13. Thank you for continuing our Snapchat streak

14. Thank you for educating me on the best snacks

15. Thank you for taking at least 100 pictures of me on family vacations

16. Thank you for letting me facetime with the dog whenever I call

17. Thank you for not knocking down the wall between our rooms like you said you would

18. Thank you for accepting my weirdness

19. Thank you for not showing my and dad my snapchat stories

20. Thank you for being you

The list could go on forever. I may not say it enough, but I do miss you, and I am eternally thankful for all that you do for me.
