Ever wondered why people sometimes report that they “feel one with the music?” It’s because many background beats of songs are identical to the “beats” of the human body (such as heart beat and pulse). That’s why music has such tremendous power to change emotions, because it really does connect with a person! Hopefully these songs will connect with you:
I’m a Goner – Andrew W.K, Matt & Kim, Souljaboy
What do you get when three one-hit-wonder artists come together? Apparently, one really awesome song. The overall beat is incredibly energizing and here’s the proof: this song had the ability to get me through a brutal three mile run.
Now, if any song has the power to keep me pumped during a workout, it’s golden.
Shake It Out – Florence + The Machine (Album: Ceremonials)
“If it ain’t broken, why fix it?” must have been what Florence and the Machine had been thinking when writing this song, since it is nearly identical in structure to the band’s other single “The Dog Days are Over” (released 2008). However, it has quite a bit more “rock n’ roll” elements to it, which really does put it in a category all its own. My review of “Shake It Out” in a nutshell? This song rocks.
Mind Your Manners – Chiddy Bang & Icona Pop (Album: Breakfast)
Chiddy Bang is a rapping duo that hails from Pennsylvania; the two met while attending college. “Mind Your Manners” follows their trend of fusing other artist’s songs into their own, and it definitely works in their favor.
How Come You Never Go There – Feist (Album: Metals)
Feist may just be the most famous person you’ve never heard of.
She’s had four Grammy nominations, won over five awards at the Juno Awards, and has appeared in Saturday Night Live. Granted, all this happened in 2008. Maybe it’s time though to give her another listen. I predict great things for “How Come You Never Go There,” and, who knows, we may actually here her again on the radio some day.
Half Moon – Blind Pilot (Album: We Are The Tide)
So I have a confession: I had no idea who this band was until a few weeks ago. Now I have their entire album, and I cannot stop listening to it. Seriously, once you listen to “Half Moon” (or any song on their album for that matter), you’ll see where I am coming from.
